This book is addressed to persons who, without being professionals in applied mathematics, are often faced with the problem of numerically solving differential equations. In each of the first three chapters a definite class of methods is discussed for the solution of the initial value problem for ordinary differential equations: multistep methods; one-step methods; and piecewise perturbation methods. The fourth chapter is mainly focussed on the boundary value problems for linear second-order equations, with a section devoted to the Schroedinger equation. In the fifth chapter the eigenvalue problem for the radial Schroedinger equation is solved in several ways, with computer programs included.
