Gives a good overview of generals all throughout history and a brief biography of each general. Good in explaining the main theme that a good general is not one who wins a battle in a war but the good general is one who converts that battle to a political & diplomatic objective. Thus generals like Caesar, Napoleon and Khalid ibn-al-Walid were not only good fighters but also great diplomats. A wonderful overview of not only the world's greatest generals, but also of the background of the times and culture they lived in was very interesting. I especially enjoyed the section on Hannibal. I was surprised to learn that General Norman Schwarzkopf employed some of his tactics during Desert Storm despite all the newest technology available to him.
