Key to Pali PrimerLily de Silva (July 16, 1928, Narahenpita, Ceylon — 2015) is a renown Sri Lankan scholar, a Ph.D. She was educated at the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya, where she received a B.A. with First Class Honors in Pali and the Woodward Prize for Pali and, in 1967, a Ph.D. She taught at the University for many years and served as Chair of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies until her retirement in 1994. Dr. de Silva was the editor of the Digha Nikaya Atthakatha Tika (Subcommentary to the Digha Nikaya), published by the Pali Text Society in three volumes, and has long been a regular contributor to Buddhist scholarly and popular journals.This book is an introduction to Pali language for beginners. It is based on the principle of teaching grammar through composition, using a gradually expanding vocabulary. This book is intended as a companion volume to the book ‘Key to Pali Primer’ which contains exercises for translations into and from English language.
