RAND Corp., Santa Monica, CA, 1976. — 86 p.This report describes the airbase damage assessment (AIDA) computer model, designed for rapid examination of the results of conventional air attacks on complex targets. The model incorporates both a Monte Carlo and a deterministic mode of operation and has a variety of possible applications. It can be used to help plan effective attacks against complex target sets, or-by testing alternative attack headings, aim points, and the like--to examine the tradeoffs between damage to primary and secondary targets. It should also prove useful in airbase protection studies, both to provide realistic and detailed samples of possible damage patterns and to assess different options.
