With the History and Romance of their Origin and a Full Description of Each. With 367 Illustrations (Over 200 in Colour). American literature is singularly deficient in works bearing on medals and decorations even of the United States, and for information on foreign decorations and orders, the American must consult books published abroad. This work has been prepared to supply that deficiency, but is limited to the decorations of the United States and of our Allies in the World War. Effort has been made to give a general view of the subject with something of the history and legends connected therewith, and sufficient detail to enable the recipient of any decoration, American or Allied, to know what his decoration means and how to wear it.
